History

Benzies was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and grew up in Dufftown.[1] His parents, who were property developers, took him to evening classes to learn about computers. At age eleven he began playing video games as a mental escape from his divorcing parents, and thirteen years later he decided to start a career in video game production. He spent two years modifying and improving an existing video game before sending it to David Jones, head of DMA Design at the time.[1] After giving Benzies a trial job, he was employed full-time, his first project being the Nintendo 64 platformer Space Station Silicon Valley.[2]
